Mike Dunmyer

Mike Dunmyer, the CEO of Advanced Degree Carpet Cleaning, lives in Lewes, Delaware with his wife, Mary, their daughters Summer and Sky, and their dog, Max. Mike has a diverse resume, having enjoyed success across several different disciplines, making him a great resource for motivated new business owners.

Mike graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University in 1984, with a Bachelor’s in Economics. In 2001, he earned an MBA from Duke University, where he was a Fuqua Scholar. He used this expertise to climb the corporate ladder, becoming a Vice President in Fannie Mae’s Multifamily Division. There, he built a number of impactful organizations from the ground up across a range of disciplines, including finance, marketing, operations, technology and strategy.

He left Fannie Mae to become the Executive Director of Ocean Champions, the country’s only political organization focused solely on ocean health. Over the next five years, he helped significantly expand the breadth and depth of the group’s electoral work, helped pass major pro-ocean legislation and worked to defeat a number of bills that would have harmed the ocean. As 2014 approached, Mike felt he had done everything he could do for Ocean Champions and began pursuing the one itch he had left to scratch – seeing if he could build a small business that was unique and best in class. This vision led to the creation of Advanced Degree Carpet Cleaning.

Mike has served on two national Boards of Directors, including Ocean Champions, and The National Aquarium in Baltimore, where he also chaired their Conservation Committee. Today, Mike serves on the Board for the Center for the Inland Bays, Chairing their Development Committee.
